Ohio Gambling Disorder Clinical Fellowship

The goals of the program are to prepare clinicians in providing clinical services for gambling disorders, aiding private practitioners and community agencies in improving clinical services, and professional development and strengthening Ohio’s workforce. This includes skills such as the ability to provide services in person, telephonically and virtually, to serve as a trainer on topics related to gambling disorder clinical services, and to serve as a general resource regionally and at the state level on gambling services. The Fellowship consists of training, clinical consultation, case conceptualization, and professional development. The program concludes with Fellows providing an oral case presentation.


Foundational Goals of the Fellowship

  • Professional Development

    Develop knowledge of content-specific standards of practice, develop subject expertise, and gain life-long learning skills. Fellows will also acquire advanced training in clinical, research, teaching, and administrative areas.

  • Interprofessional Collaboration

    Engage in working relationships and collaborations with mentors and new interdisciplinary affiliates, with emphasis on building and working on a culture of partnerships and teams.

  • Leadership and Communication

    Develop a personal leadership style and cultivate leadership skills aiming to enhance communication and dissemination skills, and lead and affect change for healthcare improvements.

  • Healthcare Improvement

    Use the six dimensions of healthcare improvement as the general philosophy for activities: safe, timely, effective, efficient, patient-centered, and equitable. Fellows will evaluate changes in healthcare and policy, and develop skills to apply this knowledge.

Meet the Class of 2025 Fellows

Allison Huss, LPC, LICDC-GAMB

  • Meet Allison

    Allison Huss (she/her) is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor with her Gambling Endorsement (LICDC-GAMB). Allison has worked at the Zepf Center in Toledo, Ohio as a Problem Gambling Counselor since April of 2023 where she conducts individual and group therapy. Allison recieved her Bachelor's in Psychology, Art Therapy, and Studio Art from Capital University and her Master's in Clincial Mental Health Counseling from Bowling Green State University.

Mandi Davis, BA, QMHS, LCDC-III-GAMB

  • Meet Mandi

    Mandi is currently employed by Hopewell Health Centers in Jackson, OH. She has been with Hopewell for 9.5 years, with 6.5 years as the AOD Program Manager. She currently has her BA in Health Care Administration and holds her LCDC-III with her GAMB Endorsement.

Adam Armstrong, LCDC-III-GAMBp

  • Meet Adam

    Adam has been a Chemical Dependency Counselor for just over 10 years. He has a Bachelor's in Psychology, and has a strong interest in helping people. While newer to the problem gambling field, Adam is excited about reaching people with problematic gambling and is excited for this opportunity.

  • Meet William

    William has been a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) since 1993 and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC-CS) since 2009. William has always wanted to be a problem solver and hopes to bring this mindset to problem gambling.

Ashley Hughes, M,Ed, LPCC

  • Meet Ashley

    Ashley graduated from Cleveland State University in 2021 with her Master's in Mental Health Counseling. Ashley has been working with AOD, behavioral health, and gambling clients at Recovery Resources for the past 3 and a half years.
