Course description:
As concerns about problem and disordered gambling grow, behavioral health professionals and agencies must decide how they will respond to this societal challenge. This training, a session of PGNO’s Developing Clinical Supervision Skills Series, will discuss why the behavioral health field should care about gambling and how provider agencies can build capacity to serve those impacted by gambling.
The session will start with an environmental scan of what gambling looks like today and its implications to the wellbeing of community members. Topics covered will include what initial services can look like for an agency new to providing care for disordered gambling and related harms as well as skills to engage with clients impacted by gambling.
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will learn methods to engage with clients regarding gambling-related harm through screening, discussions, and education.
- Participants will recognize challenges incorporating a new service at an agency and how to overcome anticipated barriers.
- Participants will understand the importance of advocating for those impacted by gambling including agency messaging acknowledging gambling-related harm and promoting staff and personnel awareness of problem and disordered gambling.

Presenters:
Mike Rosen, LPCC-S
Mike is a licensed professional clinical counselor with supervision designation. He has spent the last 13 years in the field of addiction treatment and co-occurring disorders. He is currently working in a private practice setting helping individuals deepen insights to addiction tendencies. He received a Master of Arts degree in Community Counseling from Xavier University and has received advanced training in the treatment of gambling disorder. He has provided gambling-specific trainingS at the state and local levels, facilitates the Ohio Gambling Treatment Fellowship Program, and provides supervision for PGNO’s Supervision Cohorts.
Jesse Wodrig, MBA, LCDCIII-GAMB, OCPSA
Jesse is PGNO’s OGTN Manager. Jesse has worked in the treatment services field for 10 years primarily working with clients living with substance use disorders. He has both direct service and administrative experience in this field. Starting in 2020, he started trainingS to build competency to assist clients living with gambling disorders, and this has become his primary professional interest. As the OGTN Manager, Jesse heads efforts to connect clients to telehealth services for assistance in treating gambling disorders while also facilitating occasional trainings.
