Responsible Gambling in Ohio Venues: Collaboration Across the Continuum of Care
There are many strategies Ohio gambling venues use to collaborate with professionals in the addiction field and community members to promote Responsible Gambling. In Ohio, these strategies have been increasingly effective by virtue of what has become known as the “Ohio Model.” This model is the continued collaboration between operators, regulators, prevention and treatment professionals and recovery advocates. Through strategic planning sessions, conference presentations, coalition participation, venue visits along with tabling and education sessions, and ongoing communication, these partners share the goal of promoting responsible play for those Ohioans who chose to gamble. This session will discuss many of these strategies, how they are implemented across the continuum of care, why collaboration is key, and where Ohio plans to go next. Attendees will hear from Ohio operators and regulators, experts representing the entire continuum of care, and from those impacted by problem gambling.
